PHANTOMS SHUT OUT STARS

LINCOLN FACES YOUNGSTOWN SATURDAY AT 6:05

The Lincoln Stars were shut out in a regular season game for the first time since March 5, 2022, as they fell to the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday night at the Ice Box.

Owen Bartoszkiewicz stopped all 25 shots that he faced to record his second shutout of the season and third in his USHL career. His toughest period was the first but he denied all 11 Stars' shots.

The Phantoms scored all three of their goals in the second period. Adam Pietila scored a shorthanded goal moments after hopping out of the box to end a five-on-three penalty kill and scored on the breakaway. Youngstown (4-2-0-0) scored its final two goals 1:18 apart as a Jack Willson one-timer found its way through and then Brecken Smith wired a shot top-right corner.

Lincoln (2-3) looks to bounce back as it faces Youngstown again on Saturday night at 6:35. Tickets can be purchased at lincolnstars.com.
