STARS STRIKE ON POWER PLAY FOR THIRD STRAIGHT GAME BUT FALL TO GAMBLERS

YAVASH SCORES FOR SECOND TIME IN LAST THREE GAMES

The Lincoln Stars scored a power-play goal but surrendered a pair on the man advantage in Saturday night's 5-2 loss to the Green Bay Gamblers at the Resch Center.

German Yavash redirected an Adam Kleber shot with 22 seconds remaining in regulation for his third goal of the season and second power-play goal. Yavash has now scored in two of the last three games, both times on the man advantage.

Green Bay (11-5-1-0) scored twice in the first period and jumped out to a 3-0 advantage 37 seconds into the second period when Chris Romaine wired a shot home from the point on the Gamblers' first power play of the night. Jason Shaugabay added the other man-advantage strike by finishing on a cross-ice backdoor opportunity at the base of the left circle 11:40 into the third period.

Lincoln (3-9-0-2) put together a charge late in the second period and cut the deficit to two when Jack Pechar poked home a rebound off an initial shot by Nikolas Young for his fifth goal of the season.

The Stars are back at the Ice Box to host the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday night at 7:05. Tickets can be purchased now at lincolnstars.com
