STARS DROP MILITARY NIGHT MATCHUP

YAVASH NETS POWER-PLAY GOAL

German Yavash scored a power-play goal but the Lincoln Stars fell to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 4-1, on Saturday night at the Ice Box.

Lincoln (3-7-0-2) struck first and took the lead into the locker room after 20 minutes but Cedar Rapids (6-6-1-0) scored the final four goals of the game.

Yavash tallied his second goal of the season and his first power-play goal at the 9:21 mark of the first. Juan Copeland fed Yavash inside the left-wing circle and his one-timer found the back of the net.

Drew Stewart scored a power-play goal of his own in the second before Jack Larrigan netted the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal at the 8:15 mark of the third. Cade Littler added insurance before Amine Hajibi scored an empty-net goal later in the final frame.

The Stars are on the road next weekend at Green Bay for a pair of games with the Gamblers. Friday's game at the Resch Center is at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday's is at 6:05 p.m.
