STARS CAN'T TAKE GAME 3 AT HOME

POSTGAME ARTICLE PRESENTED BY GREAT CLIPS

The Fargo Force took a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals with a 3-2 win over the Lincoln Stars in Game 3 on Sunday night at the Ice Box.

Jack Pechar scored his first career playoff goal and Mason Marcellus cut the deficit to one in the final minute but the Stars must win on Monday to continue their season.

The Stars scored first when Pechar redirected a Henry Nelson one-timer at the 3:30 mark of the first. Fargo answered by tallying the next three goals to take the game and a lead in the series. Cole Knuble forced a turnover to help set Mac Swanson up for the equalizer just 1:31 after Pechar's goal.

Lincoln outshot Fargo, 19-11, in the second period but the only goal came with seven seconds left in the period as Leo Gruba pinched to the near post and redirected the puck to give the Force their first lead of the game. Cameron Whitehead did stop Charlie Russell on a penalty shot at the 12:10 mark after he was hooked on his way to the net.

Knuble added to Fargo's lead when he cashed in on a two-on-one from the base of the left circle for the eventual game-winner. Marcellus cashed in backdoor with the Stars' net empty with exactly a minute left but the Stars would get no closer.

The Stars host the Force again on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. in Game 4. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at lincolnstars.com.
