DUBUQUE DROPS LINCOLN TO END WEEKEND

LOOMER, FERKODIC SCORE FOR STARS

Layne Loomer scored his first USHL goal but the Dubuque Fighting Saints defeated the Lincoln Stars, 7-2, on Sunday night at the Ice Box.

Max Ferkodic and Loomer scored 1:01 apart but Lincoln (19-20-1-2) could not overcome surrendering the game's first seven goals before getting on the board. Dubuque (29-9-3-3) swept all three of its games this weekend and split the season series with Lincoln.

The Fighting Saints scored three times in the first period before adding four more in the second. James Reeder led all players with three points (1+2) and got the scoring barrage started 3:43 into the game.

Ferkodic one-timed the puck from the left point off a pass from Keaton Peters at the 14:05 mark of the second to put the Stars on the board. Loomer banked the puck off Dubuque goaltender Kevin Reidler at the 15:06 mark following a scrum in front of the net.

Lincoln wraps up February on the road against the United States National Team Development Program this Friday and Saturday. The Stars play the U18's Friday night before battling the U17's on Saturday.
