STARS ERASE 2-0 DEFICT, BUT CAN'T STOP LOSING SKID

DROP TWO-OF-THREE GAMES TO CHICAGO THIS SEASON

Jack Pechar and Mathew Maltais scored but the Lincoln Stars fell to the Chicago Steel, 3-2, on Saturday night at the Ice Box.

Lincoln (22-26-3-2) saw its losing streak hit six games (0–5-1) despite overcoming a two-goal deficit in the second period. Pechar redirected a shot from Jacob Rombach at the 8:08 mark before Maltais fired a wrist shot home from the left-wing circle at the 14:56 mark for a power-play goal.

The Stars look poised to send the game into the second intermission tied up but Charlie Major scored with 18.1 seconds remaining to give Chicago (24-23-3-4) the lead for good.

Chris Able scored the one goal in the first period, one-timing a pass from Michael Emerson at the 10:06 mark of the first. Michael Hage doubled up the lead and scored for the fourth consecutive game 4:28 into the second period.

The Stars outshot their opponent for the fifth consecutive game at 27-23 but could not earn the win. Lincoln remains in sixth place with the final playoff spot in the Western Conference thanks to Des Moines also losing in regulation on Saturday night.

The Stars play two road games next weekend, first taking on the Omaha Lancers on Friday night at 7:05 before facing the Sioux Falls Stampede the next evening at 6:05. Lincoln's next home game is the STEM day matchup with Omaha on Mar. 27 at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased now at lincolnstars.com.
