STARS DROP REGULAR-SEASON FINALE TO SIOUX CITY

END SEASON 27-30-3-2

Jacob Rombach and Dashel Oliver scored but the Lincoln Stars fell to the Sioux City Musketeers, 7-2, on Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center.

Sioux City (34-22-6-0) scored at least twice in every period to lock up the second-best record in the Western Conference and a first-round bye. The Musketeers and the Stars split the season series with three wins apiece.

Sioux City raced out to a 5-0 lead before Rombach put Lincoln (27-30-3-2) on the board 5:30 into the third on a wrist shot from the far wall to the top right corner. Oliver snuck a backhander through far-post side 33 seconds later but that was as close as the Stars would get.

Lincoln forwards Jared Mangan, Keaton Peters and Jack Pechar all suited up Saturday to ensure that they appeared in all 62 regular-season games. This gives the Stars 43 different different instances in team history where a player has played in every regular-season game in a season. This is the fifth time in 28 seasons that three-or-more Stars have achieved this feat in the same season.

Lincoln opens up the postseason on Monday night against the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena. It's a best-of-three series with Game 2 on Tuesday in Waterloo and Game 3, if necessary, at the same venue on Wednesday. This is the third consecutive season that the Stars and the Black Hawks will match up in the Clark Cup Playoffs. Lincoln went 1-2-0-1 against Waterloo in the regular season.
