LANCERS WIN SEASON SERIES VS. STARS

PECHAR SCORES POWER-PLAY GOAL FOR LINCOLN

The Omaha Lancers broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period to defeat the Lincoln Stars, 3-1, on Saturday night at the Ice Box.

Cam VanSickle scored the game-winning goal at the 11:49 mark of the third. He whacked home a rebound off Mateo Picozzi's initial shot from the right point and gave the Lancers their fifth win in nine matchups with the Stars.

Nicholas Sykora put Omaha (14-43-3-0) up 1-0 with his third goal of the season on a wrist shot that popped in and out of the net 6:14 into the game. Nick Pierre scored an empty-net goal with 24 seconds remaining in regulation.

Jack Pechar evened the game up with a power-play goal at the 9:31 mark of the first with Lincoln's (26-29-3-2) only goal. Blake Montgomery's shot from the left point was blocked in the slot and Pechar fired the loose puck into the back of the net for his 19th of the season and his sixth power-play goal, now tied with Keaton Peters for the team lead.

The Stars wrap up the regular season next weekend when they host the Sioux City Musketeers on Friday and then travel to Sioux City on Saturday. Lincoln holds the last playoff spot in the Western Conference with two more points than Des Moines. Tickets for Friday's game can be purchased at lincolnstars.com
