SHOSTAK COMMITS TO ST. CLOUD STATE

JOINS TANNER HENRICKS AS SECOND STAR TO COMMIT TO HUSKIES

Lincoln Stars goaltender Yan Shostak has announced his commitment to play college hockey at St. Cloud State, an NCAA Division I program in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

Shostak, 19, has shined in his first season in the USHL and with the Stars. The Minsk, Belarus, native is 19-18-1-1 with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage. He has the eighth-best save percentage and the ninth-best goals-against average while also recording three shootout victories, tied for second-most in the USHL. Shostak was recently named the league's Goaltender Of The Week for recording back-to-back 35-save performances in a pair of Stars victories Mar. 29-30.

"We are thrilled to announce Yan's commitment to St. Cloud," Stars head coach Rocky Russo said. "We are proud of him for reaching this goal as he has worked incredibly hard this season to establish himself as one of the best goalies in junior hockey. Yan is a competitive young man with aspirations of playing in the NHL. He will be a huge part of our success next season before matriculating to St. Cloud for the 2025 season. I have no doubt that he will be a tremendous addition to Coach Larson's team and the St. Cloud academic community."

St. Cloud State has made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, including appearances in each of the last four held prior to this season. The Huskies have made two Frozen Four appearances, including finishing as NCAA Tournament Runners-Up in 2021. Former players who are active in the NHL include Blake Lizotte, Charlie Lindgren and former Star Ryan Poehling.

The Huskies are led by Brett Larson, whose 123 wins are fourth-most in school history. He has head coached St. Cloud State to four NCAA Tournament appearances, two conference championships and the program's first-ever National Championship game appearance. Internationally, he has served as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship, the 2022 Olympics and 2020 World Junior Championship. He served as head coach for the U.S. Junior Select Team that won the 2012 World Junior A Challenge.

Shostak and the Stars wrap up the regular season this weekend with a home game against Sioux City on Friday and then a road contest against the Musketeers on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at lincolnstars.com
