STARS FALL TO STAMPEDE TUESDAY

LINCOLN 1 SIOUX FALLS 4

Sioux Falls, SD. —  The Lincoln Stars (3-5-1-0) fell to the Sioux Falls Stampede on Tuesday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Lincoln would head to the man-advantage just under one minute into the contest, drawing a tripping penalty. But the opportunity fell to the wayside after a blue-line turnover sprung Max Davis shorthanded to give the Stampede an early lead. Just under 13 minutes later, Sioux Falls would take advantage of a late back-check and slot their second goal to pad their lead. The Stars would cut the deficit in half late in the first however. Casey Vandertop (St. Thomas) fired a puck home on the power-play after some hard work by the Stars forwards to send the game into its first intermission with a 2-1 score.

Sioux Falls would score the lone goal of the second period, tallying a 4-on-3 power-play tally. The Stampede outshot the Stars 16-7 in the middle frame and took a 3-1 lead into the final period of regulation.

The Stampede added another halfway through the third and never looked back. Sioux Falls took the mid-week contest 4-1.

The Stars are back in action this weekend with two games against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the Ice Box. Tickets for this weekend's games are available at lincolnstars.com.
